Mark Polland is a senior attorney with Marron Lawyers. Throughout his career Mark has regularly represented clients in large, complex cases involving multiple parties and more than $100 million in controversy. He has represented some of the oldest and largest construction companies in the nation, including McCarthy, Perini, and Tutor-Saliba. His cases include a wide range of business and commercial disputes, as well as construction matters, real estate, and personal injuries.

Mark has a successful record of litigating against both private and public entities. In 2008, Mark successfully defended a $215 million construction defect lawsuit without any contribution to the settlement from his client, the general contractor for a large semiconductor manufacturing facility. In 2009 he was instrumental in obtaining a $3 million jury verdict for his client against a local school district based on a breach of contract claim. Mark has represented clients in state courts throughout California as well as the California Court of Appeals, federal courts, and numerous administrative bodies.

Mark received a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1985, and a J.D. from Loyola Law School in 2000.

In addition to his legal career, Mark is a licensed real estate broker, an accomplished artist, and a long-time teacher. He holds two master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in education with an emphasis in linguistics and non-verbal communication. He has lectured in art history and other subjects at universities and museums throughout Los Angeles, including UCLA, California State University at Northridge, Chapman University, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Mark is an expert scuba diver who formerly worked as a scientific research diver and a diving guide in Central America. He is a sixth degree black belt in traditional Okinawan karate and co-author of a definitive text on that subject.
