Assisting the Accident Victim:$650,000 settlement: We represented the victim of a drunk driver. Our client's previous firm had encouraged him to settle for $240,000, and even a judge told him he would be a "fool" to reject a $300,000 offer. Our lawyers advised him to hold out for more. Our lawyers picked apart the defense's arguments, which were designed to avoid responsibility. We used economic and rehabilitation experts to substantiate loss of income, as well as graphic color reproductions showing our client's physical injuries. Two weeks before trial started, a claims adjuster was flown out from Chicago and after a mock opening statement, settled for $650,000. $72,000 jury verdict: Our client, a victim of minor slip and fall injury, was accused making up his accident. The defense offered no settlement prior to the trial and confidently called our client a liar in court. The jury saw otherwise, however, and awarded our client more than our pre-trial settlement demand. $512,000 settlement: A construction worker suffered serious back injuries because of negligence of a crane operator. However, his case was rejected by at least two other law firms because they felt there was insufficient evidence. So the injured worker did not file suit within the statute of limitations period.
