Past Cases

- "Bet the company" commercial arbitration involving a dissolved business partnership formed to provide public transportation throughout Southern California. The former partner sought $3,000,000 in reimbursement and punitive damages against our general partner client, as well as federal whistleblower and false claims, and director and personal liability. After two weeks of arbitration hearings and midway through his cross-examination, the former partner agreed to a $75,000 settlement and release of five other actions.
- $16,000,000 settlement obtained for California State University in action against general contractor and subs, for defective construction of dormitory. Fraudulent and shoddy construction practices uncovered after prevailing in hard fought discovery battles and meticulous review of produced documents.
- Trial judgment for $640,000 in cash and $15 million indemnity, in complex international maritime dispute between major shipping line and consortium of cargo insurers, arising from destruction of oil dock in Japan. This seven year case traveled to the Ninth Circuit three times and was tried twice. Trial judgment key to resolution of other pending disputes in Germany as well.
- A California retailer refused to pay a $60,000 invoice from a New York fashion manufacturer. We represented the fashion manufacturer and gained a $240,000 trial court judgment (including attorney’s fees).
- After being terminated by a Fortune 1000 corporation, an executive refused to be bound by his arbitration agreement, alleged violations of United States law related to import and export of technical information and demanded $300,000 in a civil court suit. We obtained judgment for the corporation, resulting in the dismissal of the civil lawsuit and barring him from proceeding with arbitration.
